WHYRED / SS20 / Campaign

Founded in 1999, The name WHYRED comes from an interview with the Swedish artist Sven X-et Erixson. X-et was asked what his favorite color was, slightly unsure he replied ‘’Red’’ upon which the journalist asked ‘’Why red?’’ upon which X-et replied ‘’Well, blue then’’.

WHYRED has always been a brand that has marched to the beat of his own drum and my goal for the ‘’new’’ WHYRED is to continue to do so! My vision for the brand is to merely reinterpret the DNA of the brand and to go back to the roots, roots that are strongly linked to the British mod-movement of the early 1960’s. The new Whyred will continue to explore these eras but through a wider lens, adding a certain French ‘’je ne sais quoi’’ and a touch of bohemian hippie!
